mid 2021 i got the opportunity to turn a diary into a book, helping musician mánu from mecklenburg vorpommern to tell her story as an artist and mother in the COVID-19 pandemic. alongside the covers visual my work have included the artwork, layout and setting of the book
since a journal is a compilation of realities snippets the overall design concept is collage – in the artwork (that works w/ the writers original photos of the time period) as well as in the typography
the author uses a variety of contrasting journalistic genres such as opinion pieces and documentaries. i've decided to reflect this in the use of different font families, allowing the reader to choose which narrative thread to follow
this book is very much eclectic. inside and out. and as the title suggests (formerly "shockdown à la moutarde") same same but different. you can order it from your local book dealer
