Fantasy Football 2021 : TBFO

Every year for Fantasy Football I get a little too into it and we make nice professional-ish looking titles and match boards for our playoffs. This year the names were a little messy, but it was a ton of fun! This is the second year with these 3D scenes, and we'll be making brand new ones next year so it's time to let them out in the wild!
Start with the draft

No one had logos yet, and we weren't exactly sure on names. On the plus side, I took last years' project and there was some quick flips to get our new names and the new league name with very minimal effort and a very fast render. The procedural bends, rotations and bounces go a really long way when you need to quickly flip around an old comp with new type. It's one of my favorite parts of C4D and keeps me from jumping into Maya every time.

The Season progresses, and we're ready for the semi-finals
I'm only one person so it's not really realistic to be putting out weekly recaps. Instead we're jumping right to the good stuff. The semi-finals.

C4D intro with some nice textures to get the look right. Our names might completely kill the professionalism but half the fun is trying to make it look as nice as possible.
I try my best to pull high quality photos that they request, and really dial in a look that feels like the NFL would do. I gather tons and tons of reference along the way, and I've got a whole dang folder dedicated to football graphics I adore.

The logo all starts in Adobe Illustrator and I'll pull it in as an SVG and start rebuilding what I need so we get some decent typology and editable type. This was before R25 added in the AI importer which is HUUUGE for next time.

After the logo I build a nice scene with some sweeping camera moves and hit render. We move into the post work in AE and start putting it all together.
The Finals. LFG
Flip those draft titles, try and fix the lighting and textures, and we're back in business. C4D is again carrying a lot of weight with that procedural text. The logo starts off in Adobe Illustrator and then, just like the previous crest, is rebuilt in C4D. I had some minor design changes this year so it's great to have the flexibility of both programs.

This year I tried adding a little bit of grass, and updated some of the background scene, but it was costing some serious render time so I did pull those back. I'm thinking next year I'll separate that into a different pass and comp them together after the fact so I can be more flexible in the future.
It was a fun year, and it warms my heart to see the football peeps get hyped up for their games. Next year we're taking it up a notch and really pushing these titles for better, longer, and much prettier 3D work.
