오늘날 인류는 외과적 수술을 통해 많은 질병을 극복하고 더 나은 삶을 살고 있다.
이러한 근대 의학의 탄생은 해부학 없이는 불가능한 일이었고 해부학의 발달로 인해 질병의 원인에 대해 중세시대와는 전혀 다른 수준으로 질병을 이해할 수 있게 되었다. 최근 집계한 수술 현황을 통해 당연시 되어버린 수술이 어떤 역사를 통해 발전해왔고 그 과정에서 이루어진 숭고한 희생에 대해 다시 한번 생각하는 기회를 가지고 수술이 미래에 나아갈 방향에 대해 보여주고자 한다.

수술이라는 행위는 심연을 들여다 보는것과 같다. 환자의 신체 내부를 직접 보기 전까지는 그 속에서 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지 알 수 없다. 이러한 점을 토대로 심해에서 아이디어를 얻어 해저지형의 해령과 해구를 통해 수치를 표현하고자 하였다.
The act of surgery is like looking into the abyss. Until you see the inside of the patient's body in person, you don't know what's going on in it. Based on these points, the idea was obtained from the deep sea and the figures were expressed through the sea level and the trench of the submarine topography.
