TUMO building in Dilijan

The customer of the project is the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, which is a free-of-charge educational program that puts teens in charge of their learning. The TUMO learning program is made up of self-learning activities, workshops, and project labs that revolve around 14 learning targets.
TUMO has Hubs in Yerevan, Dilijan, Gyumri, and Stepanakert and works are underway to open centers in Koghb and Masis. TUMO Boxes are already operating in the towns of Berd, Gavar, Sevan. Outside of Armenia, there are centers in Paris, Beirut, Moscow, Tirana, and Berlin. Hubs will soon open in several other cities around the world.
The second TUMO center, located in the town of Dilijan, opened its doors in 2013, with the support of the Central Bank of Armenia through the TUMOxCBA partnership. TUMO Dilijan gives access to the unique TUMO learning system to hundreds of teenagers, some of whom come from remote villages.
In 2017 during the use of the TUMO building, the need for new premises arose, the management decided to reconstruct the old roof and place a hostel on the new attic floor for students from other regions, and mentors who move to Dilijan for a limited period. It was decided to change the proportions of the existing cubic building, which was somewhat squat. The triangular shape of the inter-window blocks echoes the motif of the cornice of the existing building. The completed superstructure gave the building a more complete and austere image. The building envelope of the new floor consists of alternating stripes of windows and triangular elements. The sanitary facilities are concentrated in the central part of the floor. The structure is made of a steel frame and drywall with insulation. The flat roof is used as a terrace for various events. In the center of the roof terrace, there are external units of ventilation systems.
