Margot Tenenbaum Cocktail Photo Series

Margot Tenenbaum Cocktail Shoot
There are few characters in movie history that are more memorable to me than Margot Tenenbaum.

When I first watched Wes Anderson’s movies I was struck by how wonderful it was that someone was making something on a large scale that was so creatively unique but that resonated with so many people. It was proof that you could push creative bounds without needing shock value to draw an audience, and that heightened attention to detail isn’t lost on viewers.

I’m not exactly sure when I decided that I was going to do a cocktail photography series inspired by Wes Anderson’s movies; I just sort of found myself watching The Royal Tenenbaums 6x in a row, pausing and examining the scenes, collecting the color palettes, taking notes on Margot Tenenbaum, ordering her wallpaper on etsy… and it all flowed from there. And it’s the most fun I’ve ever had making something.

I decided to focus on Margot’s character specifically for this series—there was just so much to pull from. The colors in The Royal Tenenbaums are a specific mix of reds and golds which I’ve never really worked with before but thoroughly enjoyed challenging myself with. I thought long and hard about the drinks that Margot would have, and enjoyed learning how to create and style them accordingly.
