Design of the annual report book of the Modern Art Museum in Lithuania. Designed from scratch, the book was made to fit MO Museum's minimalist, modern aesthetic.
2020 was a difficult and uncertain year. The design decision was to make every chapter start with a different colour, to portray the mix of emotions that were compressed into the year, at the same time trying to contrast the overall grey feeling of the lockdowns, the pandemic, and the constant stream of unsettling news.
The pages of the book are wrapped in a trifold (gatefold) cover. When unfolded, the credits are presented on the left (that get covered once the first page is turned), and the contents of the book on the right. That way, the contents of the book are always visible for convenient navigation.
Quotes from visitors and various prominent art figures work together with the chapter colours to make the book feel alive and social, adding weight to the contents of each chapter.
