Problem statement: Being in the age of information, an abundance of educational resources dedicated to self-learning has emerged that specifically target employees. Their aim is improving the employee’s skills to further excel in their careers. There are very few sources that target and motivate the young ambitious demographic of 17-23 to improve their cognitive skills.

Research results: 1. Lifelong learning is articulated among national objectives of only a handful of MENA countries
2. These few resources use traditional methods of teaching like courses and conferences that do not challenge skills nor motivate them to learn more.

This is a research-led project done as a result of a final design proposal called "Cognitive Competence Through Self-Learning"

4. Modes of Thinking

Black & white thread linen fabric: represents the straightforward focused thinking mode where black & white produce an opaque grey.
White semi see-through fabric: represents the dreamy diffused thinking mode.
Colorful reflective embellished fabric: when both thinking modes are utilized – representing the beautiful result where neurons are firing throughout different parts of the brain.

+neon light tube to represent neuron pathways

c. The Giveaway

The challenge: designing an attractive exhibition giveaway that would actually incentivize the guests to open the giveaway and explore it.

Key elements: A 25-minute timer and The First Piece notebook which summarizes the whole experience and lists down the tools that assist in the learning process, including the Pomodoro technique – which is a way in which the learner dedicates 25 minutes to focus on learning only (utilising the focused thinking mode) and then take a break (allowing the diffused thinking mode to take place).

d. Marketing

Taking a more personal approach where magnifying glasses are distributed for free among schools and universities as an invitation to the exhibition.

Oh no! Is this the end?..
