In some ways, this piece is an exploration of both womanhood and beauty. While it alludes to recognizable feminine forms with a high waist and blithe, hooped skirt, the entire shape is supported by structural, suspender-like bands. The structural character of the form also challenges the division between the more feminine practice of apparel design and historically masculine practice of architecture. Finally, I hope the piece poses a question about beauty. Why is there beauty in the rough, worn, and imperfect?
