Emotionally Healthy Spirituality is a sermon intro video that illustrates several points from the book of the same name.

God is represented as the sun throughout the video. He opens the windows to connect with us, but as He moves, the pottery refuses to follow. It isn't until the pottery becomes broken that it realizes it needs the light to become whole.
Scene 01 environment allowed the light to bounce in a larger space creating a softer scene. A window opens up which creates a patch of light on the wall framing the pot in front of it. The pot extends beyond the light and enters into the darkness above.
Scene 02 environment uses a lower, darker ceiling to reduce the bounces and enhance the shadows. The shadow creates a traveling line which follows behind the glaze.
Scene 03 environment uses bounce lighting from under the stone table. Cylinders move erratically under the table to create a subtle flicker effect on the walls of the kiln. The last of the light leaves the scene.
Clean geometry is a priority but not always a necessity
Using the fracture object to create a shatter point. Effectors with fields create the explosion and blow back effect.
The spline effector moves the pottery along a spline then comes together at the end. Light reenters the scene from the opposite side and rests in place. Everything is places in a more elegant environment than the pottery studio. The stage the pottery rests on is a reference to the ice berg from the book's cover.
X-Particles get black and white color from shader. Infection mode infects white particles with greater influence than black particles which creates the dripping effect.
A failed attempt at forming the pot in different stages then morphing between those stages with the pose morph tag.
Morphing the clay lump as a lathe object rises from below. The spline of the lathe is animated to the music. Both object are then merged with an OVDB mesher. This is baked out as an alembic animation file for quicker load times.

Render vs Post FX
Multi-layered EXR files were rendered for ultimate control of the scene. Each scene rendered layers of diffuse, subsurface scattering, global illumination, reflection, refraction, specular, cryptomatte and depth. Also, each scene was rendered with light groups for each layer (diffuse sun, diffuse portal, diffuse hdr, diffuse furnace, sss sun, etc) to adjust the intensity in After Effects.
