Travel poster of the Year 2021

Come to Finland arranged an annual international contest – Travel Poster of the Year 2021. The theme this year was Hanko (Hangö) – the popular holiday destination / town on the southwestern tip of Finland.

The contest was open for illustrators, graphic designers and artists all around the world. The jury chose ten finalists from 338 submitted entries. After the ten final entries were published, the general public voted for their favourite artwork.

The prize for the winner was 2500€ and a trip to Hanko. The poster is included in the product assortment of Come to Finland and is exhibited at the Come to Finland exhibition in the Museum of Hanko May 2021–April 2022.

The Riviera of Finland is the chosen one!

It’s all about the ice cream! The poster ”The Riviera of Finland” has been chosen as the Finnish travel poster of the year 2021. The artist behind the glorious poster is Fanny Törnqvist from Helsinki.

- It’s amazing that people like my poster. It seems like many people have the same image and perspiction of Hango as I do, and that makes me happy!

Törnqvist’s poster, picturing a woman eating ice cream on the beach with the legendary beach huts in the background, received over a third of the votes and clearly won the public vote in the contest.

- Hanko inspired me to use a happy color palette. I also took impressions from the classic vintage posters, using a spirited but simple style. The whole jury and the poster team at Come to Finland congratulates Fanny!
