Violet Shot — Caustics Experiments

CGI
Photoshop
UltraViolet Shot Glasses – Blender 3.1 Alpha Caustics Experiments
For a long time we did not have caustics that looked anywhere *near* to real in Blender Cycles, that changed with patch D13533. In the last couple days I made some test renderings to see how it performs and how fast it is.
Lens Distortion done in Blender; Look & Grain in Lightroom; Vibrance in Photoshop.

Testing System

Mode: CUDA

Cycles Render Devices:
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor
Resolution:
2160x2700

Sampling:
0.05 Noise Threshold
200 Max Samples
300 sec (main renders), 900 sec (caustics closeups) Time Limit
Above – right: 18mm camera inside the glass (literally in the material itself – physically impossible)
Below – left: 18mm camera right on the edge of the inside (probably also physically impossible, if the camera lens is not smaller than .5mm)
Thanks for watching!
