Joint 01 (Sanpoutometsugi)
When I make a dispaly case to put Japanese dolls in, I use this merthod for handling the angles so that I do not let the Koguchi (the rough cross-section of the wood) of the material show in the finished item.
Ensuring that there is no unevenness is the surface of the material requires a high degree of skill.
Joint 02 (Ryoubamenngoshihozotsugi)
this is one of the methods used in (the fixing of) shoji (paper sliding doors) and doors in traditional Japanese houses.
This method allows me to avoid creating unevenness in the  level of the material so that I can wrap decoration arond one side of the whole.
