The Larkspur barstool combines the utilitarian characteristics needed for a commercial setting with sculptural sweeping lines for an enhanced aesthetic look typically associated with residential furniture . It should look at home in a variety of commercial settings, from an airport lounge to a trendy club to a neighborhood watering hole or even a coworking space. Of course that doesn't mean it's only limited to commercial use. The Larkspur stool would feel right at home in a residential setting. The striking features and inherent durability would lend itself nicely to that stylish new kitchen remodel, basement whiskey/wine bar or outdoor entertaining space.  

Besides durability the Larkspur stool contains a number of practical features built into the interior cavity. These features are designed to deter theft and create an individual valet for personal items, keeping them off the floor and close at hand. A large bag such as a carry-on suitcase can be placed inside the stool instead of off to the side where it can be stolen more easily by a passing thief. The round bar provides a convenient  place to drape a coat, sweater or other outerwear garment instead of over the seat  where it can dangle onto the floor. There is also a purse hook built into the underside of the seat for hanging handbags, purses, other small bags, hats, or umbrellas, protecting them from the inevitable spilled drink or condensated pool of water they can be subjected to when stored on the bar or counter top. Along with the inherent benefits to the individual patron these features can be an advantage to establishments lacking a coat check or place for coat hooks.

The Larkspur name is inspired by my Grandmother who lived on Larkspur Street. She did an extraordinary amount of traveling after retiring, visiting countless countries multiple times and making it to every continent except Antarctica. With all that traveling she of course spent a lot of time in airports, hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. So when I think of people on the move, traveling through airports, eating out, meeting friends for drinks I think of her. As this stool is clearly designed for these people and activities the name had to be dedicated to her.
