GLOBAL DESIGN
International Perspectives and Individual Concepts
Globalization and its effects on all areas of society have been discussed with particular intensity for some time now. But one interesting and thus far neglected aspect is the question of how globalization affects design. This book illustrates how beginning in the 1970s the globalized world manifests itself in design, and how design develops in a globalized world. Starting from global networking in the areas of communication, mobility, production, trade, and capital, the book examines the following main topics: the illustration of globalization in relation to regionalism; the container as a fundamental element of globalization; cultural transfer; and, finally, global trends, their origins, their establishement, and their diffusion. Artistic contributions throughout explore particular phenomena of globalization.
