Communication Breakdown
Graphic installation made using intaglio and digital printing techniques
Codes and symbols have always accompanied mankind. Being a carrier of human emotions, thoughts and history, they constituted a cultural testimony. Thanks to them, certain thoughts and ideas could spread, evolve and be passed on to subsequent generations. In the course of time pictorial writing, hieroglyphs and cave paintings transformed into the modern form of alphabets we know today. Behind every alphabet, however, there was always a culture and tradition of the region it came from. The series/installation shows the consequences of cultural misunderstanding. Due to the desire of the representatives of each of them to dominate, something hard to read is created, which is a kind of error/error. . Negative attitude and unwillingness to listen to a rationale different from our own leads to the title - Communication Break down, which symbolizes a split in intercultural and, in a way, interpersonal communication.
The work was presented as part of the open call 'rzeczy które mnie a cebie nie' organised by the Kolektyw Rzeczy. The exhibition took place at the Tytano Complex located in Lower Mills in September/October 2019.
