Enforcing gender norms in young children such as telling them how to dress and how to act based on their gender, limits their freedom and can stunt their potential development. It is important for young children to grow up without assigned or limited roles as it can help them explore who they are, and make connections to people around them, as well as gain self-confidence, well-being, peer acceptance, and social support.

This digitally illustrated children's storybook aims educate children on gender roles and stereotypes. The book tells the journey of a young girl named Kia trying and becoming the first person to break the gender roles and stereotypes in her town.
