Amazing Animals Project

Background
The concept of this project is to use the same subject matter of a cat photo into four different types of aesthetics for commercial functions consisting of logo, gestural , transformation and an encyclopedia version.
Original Photo
Original Photo Process
I have chosen this photo of the black and white cat because I like the value contrasts within the fur, and the cats body portion to show fully the cat.
Logo Thumbnails
Thumbnail Process
To create a corporale logo I attained a simple logo that is easily memorable. In the first thumbnail I used the principle of knockout in the cats body, in the second I had focused on the pattern of fur on the cat, and the third I used the principle of line to create dimension.
Logo Final
Final Process
As the final logo, this was selected because it captures the main concept of the cat with contrast in fur, facial shading and expression and I personally like the open line at the bottom section of the cat. This final is simple yet gives an intricate look at first glance.
Gestural Thumbnails
Thumbnail Process
While making the thumbnails for the gestural I used black India ink and a thick paintbrush to show the essence of the cat in roughly 30 seconds to two minutes.
Gestural Final
Final Process
My final gestural shows the main concept of the cat in a quickly schemed out fashion. I personally like the ear highlights to show dimension and highlight in the main body to lessen the weight of the black.
Transformation Thumbnails
Thumbnail Process
In my first thumbnail I have transformed the cat into a play on mouse where the cat is wearing a cheese hat with a mouse thrown in for detail and understanding. My second thumbnail is a cat turned into a witch because witches typically have a cat as a side champion. My third transformation is a clown cat.
Final Transformation
Final Process
My final cat transformation is an Egyptian cat, I was influenced to do this at when I think of historical cats I look back to ancient Egypt times. This cat is wearing traditional collar and gold detailing to express wealth.
Final Encyclopedia
Final Process
For the encyclopedia matter I had used value to create contrast within the cat, using grey shading on the middle/front section of the body rather than white to show more effective detail. To draw the fur I used repetitive markings with a various of light to dark pencils to create shadowing.
Conclusion
Overall in this project it was interesting to bring out more of a creative style in making the logo, gestural , transformation and encyclopedia versions. Showing not only the essence of the cat but the imagination it can take to show how it can stand out among others.
