Abyssopelagic is a book about creatures found in the depths of the ocean. While collaborating with a team, we developed our technical knowledge and skills in design production. This included artwork basics, conversion of artwork for successful reproduction, reproduction of artwork using offset and letterpress techniques, and finishing techniques using specific equipment. We reproduced the book 50 times and did so all in the production labs provided by Western Washington University. I designed three pages within the book: an antique-gold metallic envelope with an experimental typographic treatment, a page with an octopus-like creature, and a deep sea anglerfish page with the backside die-cutted to display its identity.
