A collection of projects I made in collaboration with the super talented Jetpacks&Rollerskates. As I do more I'll just add them to this project.
"Plague Pizza Delivery Boy"


WIP renders



Lighting

For the lighting I wanted to do something that works with the story of this little fella so I deleted all the lights I had when I was working on the modeling part, then I added one spot light on top , increased the intesity of it , added one directional blue rim light , and another directional light with a bluish tint to give light up everything but still gives it that night look.



Colors
I suck when it comes to making decisions that's why when it comes to colors I keep trying out different things till I find something that I think fits.
I made one version which works with the story better (the dark purple one), the spotlight the dark mood helps define the story of the plague delivery boy, then I moved to making different versions and I gotta say though I like most of them, the yellow and green ones are my favorites.



Materials
With the materials for the hoodie and trashcan I added some simple finger prints using a random texture I found online with fingerprints and combining it with the glossy purple material I had.


I added some subtle subsurface scattering for the skulls and bones material, though it increases the render times I think it looks better.


Animation
For the animation I thought of doing something simple with the character turning his head the other way then back quickly to check what's happening, and with the fast movement it had more of the animal feel that works with the plague mask.
Some simple wave modifier for the wiggly lines for the trash and some simple blinking for the cat.

for this project it was easier to focus on making the big work station first before moving to the more organic shapes of the cat and chair.

Lighting Variations

After finishing all the modeling and adding the materials I wanted to try out different lighting settings since I felt the initial lighting was a bit flat and I wanted to try to include some story telling elements there.

"Meotrix"

For this project I knew that once I finish one of the cat pods I can duplicate it and add the other changes after and I thought animating that scene would be super fun.

Lighting variations

With lighting I tried a couple of things, some just a simple color variation with the orange green and pink for the cat pods, and more story telling ones like the 4th one with the window sun light or the 6th one with some light coming from some door.


Animations




Tips on how I animate things quickly



-I animate most objects with just keyframing the scaling rotation position and sometimes shape keys, and only rig the parts that would require deforming the geometry like the tail.

-With some objects I can use a noise modifier or cycles modifier to create a quick animation loop for them (like the screen or button lights).

-For the bubbles particle system I couldn't make it loop so I used a couple of bubble particles to hide when the particle system starts and ends.

Color Variations

After doing some different lighting settings, I felt with all the purple pink and the light bounces making it more saturated, I thought maybe I can try different colors than the ones in the concept
