ART235 | Project 4 PSA Campaign
Project Description
This project required students to design a series of three 11 x 17 posters which could be used for a Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign. These posters need to promote a significant issue which affects individuals, neighborhoods, country or nation. Each poster should to be distinct but similar so they could appear as a cohesive set when next to each other. I chose to do two different series of posters, one containing visual experiments edited in Photoshop and one using typography.
Issue of Focus
My topic of focus is mental health and how we can help reach out to those who are struggling. When experiencing mental health challenges it’s important to have a support system. My audience is 12-18 year-old young men and women. I’d love for these posters to help them know they are not alone and that it’s okay to ask for help. Sometimes talking it out with someone else makes a huge difference. Please reach out to a friend about their mental health. Knowing one person is there to listen and trying to understand makes all the difference. Be a friend, help them locate professional resources for additional support. Find more ways to help at seizetheawkward.org or NAMI.org. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is a health organization committed to providing education, support, and public awareness so people and families affected by mental illness can build better lives.
