We were given the ability to choose an old 1920s era WPA poster and transform it into anything we wanted. As soon as I saw the original poster (below) I immediately thought about the classic horror novel Carrie by Stephen King. Seeing the bucket pouring blood down reminded me of the classic scene of Carrie White being crowned prom queen and immediately getting blood dumped on her by some bullies. My initial idea was to have the iconic Carrie wide eyed fury stare as the center piece. I then realized that in keeping with the vibe of the original, I kept the bucket as the main attraction but kept Carrie as a depressed figure getting the blood poured on her, with the lights shining only on her to emphasize the humiliation of the moment. I kept a jittery and messy brush throughout the piece to represent Carries deteriorating mental state.
