Simonne De Sousa's profile

La Nouvelle Vague Film Festival

BFI presents a screening event of French New Wave Cinema.

Known for its bold and experimental visual style, the French New Wave (or Nouvelle Vague) introduced a fresh perspective to filmmaking in the late 1950’s and early 60’s. Favoring naturalism and free expression over the linear plot lines and polished style of the time, French New Wave films
often contained discontinuous editing, jump shots, and non-linear narratives.

In this design for a brochure & postcards promoting the BFI film festival, I aimed to capture the ambiguous & fragmented
visual style of the French New Wave.
