Erick Olivera Mendez's profile

Progress made within Pemex

Erick Olivera Méndez is a legal consultant and administrative law attorney based in Mexico City, Mexico. Erick Olivera Méndez began his work with Pemex in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, as a representative of labor relations. Founded in 1938, Pemex is a Mexican state oil company operated by the Mexican government. It is one of the largest companies in Latin America and the largest taxpayer of the Mexican government.

Competition between oil companies requires the market to build sustainable alliances and strategic relationships through flexible frameworks. Since the 2013 Energy Reform in Mexico, progress has been made within Pemex in its acquisitions. The reform allowed competition in the state-controlled oil and gas sector. As a result, the company's procurement function became a centralized structure to increase purchasing power, develop consistent processes, and simplify planning. In response to similar legislative reforms, the changes made by Pemex's management in the 2017-21 Business Plan allow the company to match its competitors.
