For my A-level art course work I am looking into dance and movement, I was mainly studying ballet and the shapes that the dancers make. I then found the myth of Apollo and Daphne and wanted to try and incorporate the myth into my artwork so I decided to use my photoshop skills and morph together a dancer and a tree. I then went on to painting the images and trying out different techniques and materials.
I tried using oils, inks, watercolour and painting oils onto acetate. I really liked doing the whole painting in oil paints, I think that the most successful image was the one with the dancers back to us as I think that the background created an interesting element to the image and I also thing that the highlights in the tree work together well. I just need to work on the detail of the dancer itself, but I felt that the dancer in the second painting was more successful.
I think that the myth fits in very well with my work and I want to try and incorporate different ideas and new techniques within the work.
