The idea behind these photos were to create two icons that represented a certain verb. We used the random verb generator and sketched out ideas for the verb and used the one we liked the most to put into Illustrator.

Touch means to come into, or be in contact with.
For this icon, I wanted to represent what the action of touching meant without being too literal. I added the line to represent where the two fingers were heading to just to give it more detail as well. Also, the fingers are not drawn perfectly and I did that on purpose to add more of an abstract feel to it. I also did not want to have the icon bleed out of the box, so I rounded out the arms to create a definite icon.
For the touch icon, we created a document on InDesign and wrote the definition, added the progress pictures, the sketch, and the physical icon to the document. I like this because you can see the progress of the icon and where you started from to where you ended.

For the touch icon, we were asked to create a physical version of our design using any material, as long as it wasn't created on anything using Adobe. I liked this part of the assignment and I liked seeing it come to life!

Explode means to burst or shatter violently and noisily as a result of rapid combustion, decomposition, excessive internal pressure, or other process, typically scattering fragments widely.
When creating this icon, I wanted to express the feeling of explode by making it feel like it’s coming at you, also known as 3D. I experimented with putting different shapes and sizes of boxes around a square in my first progress picture, but then I felt like it was too busy, so then I got rid of the lines, but still felt like it needed more. That’s when I added the negative space within the middle square and loved it!
We made the same InDesign document for both icons we created, but we only made one physical icon. Overall, I really liked the projects and it helped me get familiar with the different Adobe applications I used.
