Taiko Processing Game
Taiko PCG
Taiko PCG is based off of the popular arcade game Taiko no Tatsujin.  It is entirely written in Processing, and the source code is available to view on GitHub.

The gameplay consists of players hitting coloured notes to the beat of the music. Note patterns become more complex when the player advances through the difficulties. Complete the song with an accuracy greater than 70% or with 75% of the maximum score in order to pass.

I made this project because I love music and video games. I wanted to find a way to incorporate the music I produced into coding and found that Taiko would be a simple enough game to where any player could pick it up and start drumming.
As mentioned before, this game was written in Processing, and uses pre-defined hit-positions to place notes with songs. Pressing a keybind will trigger hit-detection for notes and will award the player with either a miss or score.

The process of creating this game was very enjoyable. At first, my scope was limited to just having one song as the only song in the entire game. But as I continued to create the game, I found that it was important to give players enough choices to fit their tastes. I wanted them to play it, not just as a game, but as a game with music that they will develop a special connection with.
In doing so, the song selection was expanded to 3 songs (currently).
