Rickert & Smith Branding

Logo
Approach: In my initial sketches I played around with different chair types and I was having a little bit of trouble with naming the fictitious company. However, when I was directed on which chair style to use, it hit me to utilize my late grandparents last names; Rickert and Smith. Not only did this name make it more fitting for a family owned furniture store, but it made this project very special to me as my grandparents were everything to me growing up and I know they'd be proud to see me creating what I did. I played around a lot with positioning of the chair as well as went through different changes of typefaces as the project progressed, initially starting with a serif font but ending with a sans serif. Color schemes and stylistic changes of the ampersand were also things that had been continuously worked out throughout the project
Iterations:
Business Card
Approach: I wanted to keep the business card clean and simplistic to fit the brands identity. The business card also underwent many different stylistic changes as I figured out the brand identity as well as made changes to the color and style of the logo. For the business card, it's a glossy paper with the logo embossed on the one side, and on the back side featuring the information and having a de-bossing of the chair.
Iterations:

In-Store Signage
Approach: For my 3rd collateral, I was directed to do in-store signage. Matching the style of the logomark for my icons, the splash of color was also reflected from the logo into the final signage
Iterations:
Graphic Translation Process
Approach: Iterating a chair, I focused on the shape of the chair whilst playing with the style in each iteration. I utilized different brushes to get stylistic changes in each outcome.
