Xi Jinping, President of the People’s Republic of China
The animation was fun to make. For the camera movement, I actually filmed an object with a camera. I put those movements into the computer (with Motion Tracking in Cinema4D), and placed them around the portrait. This makes the portrait look even more realistic, as if it was filmed with a real camera, but everything is digital.
Creating the portrait in Cinema4D
For the portrait, I first made a 2D version. 2D drawing I have been doing for years, I feel at home in that. 3D is all newer to me, I'm still exploring that. Anyway, I made a 2D portrait, in which I could go as far as possible with the deformations. Without that 2D version I could not have made this 3D version. I'm going to do it more often.
