McClish Travel Logos
2021
UMGC Illustration Graphics
These are logo’s I created while attending University of Maryland Global Campus. These logos are multiple versions of a brand that I am in the process of creating in Japan. The main creation of this logo was bending the first letter of my last name McClish and creating an almost mouse like “M”. The logo was created in Adobe Illustrator during my tenure of university. The teal and black are contrasting colors that help create a nighttime party kind of vibe. These are also just two colors that I enjoy working with and used them to create a brand logo for myself.
Wonder
2021
UMGC Image Editing II
This is a photo that I took in northern Japan at the mountains. The road left a certain level of mystery as it led straight off into the distance of where we would be hiking. The clouds above showed no mercy of giving us sunlight for the duration of the trip, but my mind was able to create a light in a sense of wonder. So, I took the photo that was edited in Adobe Lightroom and tossed it into Adobe Photoshop. In photoshop I cut out the word wonder to match the thoughts in my mind and created a backdrop shadow on the ground before it. Even though the weather was a bit sad, the mind was running wild in anticipation of the events to come.
Cigar Menu
2020
After taking my Adobe illustrator class with University of Maryland Global Campus my skills had improved with the program. With an assist from a friend, I was requested to create a Cigar menu for a hotel in Japan. This was the first time a company had requested that I make something for them and to receive compensation. Although the background in this photo is a blurred orange; I kept the background white and print it onto coffee paper that I found at a pawn shop. The paper was of high-quality grade and made solid menus that are easy to edit and change if they have a menu update.
Fuji Apples
2020
After taking my image editing in class, I had taken a trip up north in Japan in order to pick apples. I found this was a perfect opportunity to get an interesting photo of Fuji apples in Japan. The mass number of apples was an amazing experience and a memory that I will not forget. The sky was blue although this picture was edited in Adobe Lightroom a bit. The foreground of apples with a girl picking apples in the back create the illusion of a larger quantity of apples than there could be. Although, there was miles and miles of apples because this is where they farm all apples for Japan.
A boy on a horse
2018
After taking my image editing in class, I had to revisit editing this photo that I took in a Japan horse festival. The picture has a lot of interesting elements, and it feels that it could be from years ago even though its from 2018. The shrine entrances in the background are where these children will ride horses from and march around the town with thousands of people in attendance to celebrate children’s youth. The colors of the Japanese attire on the horses really bring an interesting color to the photo. This festival has happened for hundreds of years and continues to be a tradition every year.
Where The Swans Go
2021
UMGC Image Editing II
This is a photo that I had taken of a Japanese girl that was edited to be a watercolor book cover. This was a combination of two clients needing different things, but I was able to bring them together to create an interesting product for both. The colors of the kimono on the girl are beautiful and compliment the nature background nicely. The orange colors really stand out and are distinct creating an immersive book cover. The swans on the dress in watercolor form appear to have feathers that are hand painted on the dress and the flower in the hair smoothly transitions to the background.
Tokyo Streets
2021
This is a photo that I had taken of a Japanese street has a lot of interesting elements. This is where Japan shines as a country of old and modern with the design of the country. This photo was edited in photoshop and every light ball down the middle of the photo was added into the photo. The reason that I added these balls down the middle of the photo as I felt it almost seamlessly became a part of the photo. When I had asked others if they could tell it wasn’t a par to the photo they were astonished and thought it was just a part of a normal Tokyo street.
Infinity Pool
2019
One thing that isn’t highlighted enough in your typical Japan photo is the opportunity to travel to resort destinations. This photo captures the entry into an infinity pool at a hotel. This was a collaboration for the hotel where the photo was used for the website’s portfolio. The photo makes you want to follow the woman into the pool ahead and join in on a resort location. This photo was edited to add artificial light in photoshop because there were not actually any lights in the hotel room. This was a partial inside and outside hotel which featured an entire bathroom outside that was covered of course.
Rainbow Bridge
2018
This is one of the most famous bridges in Japan named Rainbow Bridge. This photo was taken from the city of Odaiba which is build on recycled products. The reason this photo stood out to me as interesting is that the plant was the only contrasting color in the entire area. There were no other red plants in the area, and it stood out as an interesting part of the photo featuring the famous bridge. I also have fond memories of riding go-karts in Mario outfits over this bridge with friends. Although, not formally in this portfolio I will put the photo below for the memory.
Tokyo Skytree
2016
Rocky Mountain National Park
This is a flier that I created in my Adobe Illustrator class during my time of University of Maryland Global Campus. I got the idea after I had just hiked a mountain in Japan to create a poster for the mountain. The poster design is entirely from different shades of purple, and all the shapes were hand drawn with the shape tool in adobe InDesign. The bear was the most challenging part because it was the first time, I had created something like this on a computer before. I enjoyed creating this poster and it reminds me of climbing mountains in Japan.

Thank you for viewing my portfolio. I am an inspiring photographer that is looking to create memories around the world. My career goals are more focused in the military, but I am always looking for ways to incorporate my designer background into my work.
