FESTIVAL DESIGN
Since surfing’s rise in popularity in the 80’s, women have always faced discrimination and inequality in the world of surfing. For many female surfers, it can be difficult to stay committed to pursuing a future in surfing due to inequality.
Swell is a festival that seeks to empower young women through the world of surf. The ocean brings euphoric, healing powers. By surrounding young girls with mentors that they can look up to and learn first hand from, it allows them to not only connect with nature but connect with one another.
Through surf lessons, competitions, yoga classes, and hearing first hand from some of the top female surfers in the world, young girls will be able to be inspired and form a long lasting community to encourage throughout generations.
Upon ticket purchase, each attendee with receive a Swell branding welcome pack including a surf backpack, surfboard wax, a tide chart countdown calendar, and a surf leash which will also double as an entry ticket into the festival.
Entering the festival, girls will be greeted along the Swell boardwalk, leading them to the main beach. Directional signage will be placed throughout the festival along classic beach flags.
Informational signage will also be placed throughout the beach, allowing for girls to be aware of information such as speakers and events. Below, the Swell stage will host various famous female surfers who are the top in the world.
