This project started with the brand name of ZR-ION, and has recently changed to ZR BIO POWER, but project is on hold as the brand name is being reviewed once again. The initial assignment was to develop the brand identity and then implement it across a poster and then hangtags. The hangtag piece of the equation has been interesting as there are many considerations to take into account when designing.
For example, client wanted a new form of hangtag that would draw attention to the product within varying retail environments, standing out from the crowd. Some retailers display the shirts on hangers/display racks, while others will have them folded and displayed in stacks. So I explored a number of forms for the hangtag, everything from a quasi shelf-talker slipped between each folded shirt in a stack, to something that could be affixed to a hanger, but none of these satisfied the two core requirements; that the hangtag always stay connected to the garment, and that it draw more attention to itself than other brands nearby.
In the end, I took the elastic cord from ZR's standard hangtag (which hang inside neck, end of sleeve, etc) and married it with a die-cut perforation that presses snugly over the top button on the neck. The snug fit keeps the die-cut hangtag sitting proud and grabs attention, while the elastic is there so when the customer removes tag from neck in order to try on shirt, the tag simply falls to the inside of the collar. When customer slips shirt back on hanger, retail staff can simply re-attach the hangtag in the proud position.
