Final Project
Stock Ticker
This is the presentation of my Final Project for CRT 101. This stock ticker has a
rocket with a servo attached to it to turn the rocket up and down, it decides that by checking the daily return of the stock via my Python 3 script and arduino nano with lcd display. The Python script takes the data from yahoo finance and then shows it on my lcd screen.
the process:

-design
I designed a 3d model of the stock ticker in tinkercad. I had the tweak the model eventually since some of my calculations were wrong.
:low fidelity

-form
I made this foamcore prototype with the help of makercase. I lasercut the rocket and glued it together. I cut the box from makercase in half do make a triangle form.
-function
I started looking into Python 3 and how to run scripts. I found a similar script online which I had to modify slightly. I also had to Pip 3 install the yahoo finance module on my laptop to run the script via terminal. I also learned how to connect a 16x2 lcd screen to my arduino nano.
:medium fidelity
-form
I converted my tinkercad model into cura printable files and made this 3d printed case for my stock ticker.
-function
I lowered the footprint of my low fidelity function prototype and combined both medium fidelity prototypes, to create the stock ticker I am presenting today. I ended up switching to female connector cables since the breadboards were simply too big to fit in my preferred small design. I saw a pattern with my projects not fitting in the intended case, looking at my intermediate project, size was a big factor but I made it work this time as well.
User Testing
Question 1: What did you think this device would do by the looks of it?

Chad: Reference Wallstreet bets
Alex: Data about Nasa missions
Lina: Display your grades
Dad: How well your portfolio is doing

Question 2:
After I explained what it is, was it easy to use?

Chad: Relatively, buttons were hard to press.
Alex: Buttons are covered by rocket of two stocks in a row have negative returns.
Lina: The cable is very strong, makes the device move sometime.
Dad: I popped one of the buttons out of the case the first time I used it.

Question 3:
What do you not like about the stock ticker?

Chad: The cable is too short, not allowing nice placement on the desk.
Alex: If the program would crash and you wouldn't be here to restart it, this would be just a paper weight.
Lina: I would have maybe painted the rocket.
Dad: Rocket gets heavy and can tilt the weight of the case to the back.

Question 4:
How much would you pay for a more refined version of this?

Chad: $40
Alex: $35
Lina: $15
Dad: $40-$45
