Project Overview
Working in pairs, we were required to research, conceptualise, script, storyboard, design and animate a video ‘Vox/Kurzgesagt-esque’ infomotion. The theme for the brief is ‘I’ve always wondered ...’. The bottom line is that it should be interesting and not a repetition of something we all know. A South African context is encouraged. Be strategic in your approach - the piece should be conceptually appropriate, well researched, visually stimulating and unpack interconnected ideas and patterns (in your research) by means of a seamless, well constructed narrative.

Design Strategy
Our design strategy included the exploration of jeans in everyday life. Why are jeans so popular? Our question lead us to the universal truth that everyone is the same in their own unique way. We all need pants but jeans help us to express our individuality through an accepted clothing piece. We also explored the different era’s, spaces and places like protests and runways where jeans might not have been welcomed at first. This exploration landed itself to video as our medium. Almost reminiscent of documentary genre. We layered grain and black and white colouring to some shots to help place them in their respective era’s to enhance the clarity of each scene. Ultimately we aimed to show the evolution of jeans as part of everyday life through video and found footage.
Moodboards
The textures, rivets and jean texture were all great inspirations for the project.
Tsepo is a great way to contextualise jeans in South Africa. He also inspired our workspace theme for our video.
