El do ts
El dots is a pair of wireless earphones designed by it's form inspired from a banana blossom.
There is no specified process to this project . I agree to 'form follows function'. I don't understand how someone could derive products out of refining forms from scratch.
For my nature and forms course at college my inspiration was a banana blossom which was readily available to me to look at and learn about.
Here are some findings and explorations that was done during the course of this project.

I found the golden ratio spiral out of the banana stem cross section. I don't know what I would do with that information. But it was a great exploration.

Cross section- banana blossom
Below are some very random ideation which had no process behind it but came my 2 weeks of studying a banana blossom. This was done by looking at pictures and sketching imaginations that could possibly have the characteristics and elegance of my inspiration.
I had no other possible ways to go about it. A banana blossom is already a very refined form considering that most of my batchmates took animals as their inspiration. Animals posses a lot more characteristics than something like this. Attributes assigned to animal forms are generally speed, elegance, mighty, cute etc. There is a lot of scope of refinement in such forms as it just have to posses animal characteristics but does not really look like the animal itself.

The earphones was a random idea. I was exploring Rhino 3D and wondering if I could create something organic using the software.
Making this was not my intention for this nature and forms project because I believe that the function comes first and then you think about the form.
