⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣500 hundred years ago, On May 22nd in the year 1520, Spanish conquistadors and their Indigenous allies attacked the Mexicas The attack during the Toxcatl festival in what is now Mexico City incited a war that led to the end of Mexica supremacy, and to the beginning of the conquest of Mexico. Cortez was allegedly seen as the embodiment of the return of the plumed serpent god Quetzalcoatl, patron saint of Aztec priesthood, triumphantly returning to Mexico from the east. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
