Ancient designation of Greek origin, meaning three aspects
as an allusion to the trichroism of the mineral spodumene, from the Greek spodoumenos - to reduce to ash by combustion - alluding to the gray color of the first specimens found.

in Greenwood, and from
the tailings of Mount Apatite,
they face me as I write,
with the improbable
pale lilac glitter of lepidolite,
and encased in quartz,
the silvery pink sheen
of spodumene.
