THAT STOOL - is a simple, yet practical, stool design. It derives from a product design exercise at byShift for an e-commerce brand that seeks to provide simple and easy to assemble home objects with a great design and function.
The premise was to design appealing products with few components that could be easily assembled by the user.
THIS STOOL integrates a seat and four legs made out of wood, along with two metal tubbing structures that provide support to the stool. Each leg is assembled to both metal structures by cap nuts screwed to the threaded end of each tube. While the seat is kept in place due to thepressure exerted by the legs assembly.
Since a good packaging design is essential for the e-commerce industry, it was necessary to come up with a solution that delivers the product in a compact format, while protecting the components’ integrity at all times. The corrugated cardborad box also provides surface for branding and assembly guide printing.
