Legend has it that King Matjaž sleeps in a cave below Peca. He fell asleep at the table in the cave. When his beard wraps around the stone table nine times, he will wake up. At that time, good times were expected to return to Carinthia.

Peca (German: Petzen) is a mountain in Carinthia, in the eastern part of the Karavanke, on the Slovenian-Austrian border.

The area of Mount Peca belongs to the Karavanke Geopark under the auspices of UNESCO, which is the first geopark in Slovenia and the first cross-border geopark between Slovenia and Austria.
