Listen,Speak to me, Feel, See, Scent
The project „A5” is a different way to see reading. Each book is more than words on a pice of paper or e-reader, each book is a feeling. This makes us think of all the different ways we can actually read a book- read aloud, listen someone reading or read the braille alphabet. Each time when you read a book in a different way it gives you different emotions.
Why the name of the project is “A5”?
“A5”- because the generally accepted senses are 5, so according to us a book can be read in 5 different ways. “A”- because “A” is the first letter of the alphabet and at the same time “A” is a beginning. Beginning of new emotion for the reading and books.
The 5 events
The project consists of 5 different events, that have happened in one month. Each of them was focused on one of people`s senses.
Listen
What is to listen to a text, read by someone else? Will this give you a new and different feeling? We gave people a chance to rediscover a familiar text or discover new one with headphones in their еars.
Speak to me
How often do you read aloud? And what is to read aloud for yourself and for other people? On our second event we welcomed people to come and record their favorite story and give it to a close friend or keep it for themselves.
Feel
What do you know about the braille alphabet? What is the feeling to read with your fingers? Is the text changing its meaning? Our teachers from the community center for blind people helped us with all the answers and show us the beauty of the braille alphabet.
See
Is the text alive? How would you feel about a text if it is becoming alive in front of your eyes? Two artists changed the way several texts look - gave them colour. Then we ran through the texts on several screens and left people to enjoy them.
Scent
Do you know where the nearest library in your neighborhood is? How can you find it? According to us you need a map and this is why we created one especially for you.
