I recreated a map of the country my parents are from to embrace the nostalgia of the souvenirs they bring home to decorate our house. Growing up I was always enamored by the beauty and simplicity of these designs from the locals. 

Costa Rica is a country in Central America, bordered by Nicaragua and Panama. It's one of the most biodiverse countries in the world; it contains about 5% of the world’s species. The lush wild natural environment can be experienced all throughout the country and is easily accessible to visitors.

Started with the basic shape of the country. You can do this by downloading a map of the country and outlining it for accuracy. 

Next I inserted images of the places I have been to, and would like visit on my next trip. Then to follow up by sectioning out the 7 provinces Costa Rica is composed of. 

I also included the major roads to give the map a little more depth. Then I slightly erased the lines that intersected with other elements on the map. Of course the sizing is over exaggerated so you can see the details.

After I was done with the coloring process in Fresco, I pulled the image into Photoshop to finish up the text. I was going to originally go with my handwriting to keep the consistency of my line work.
