Soccer Tees 04 - Legend Series

Part of a larger collection of tees I designed for Back-Post.com.

 

I’ll be the first one to admit that I’m not really into football, but this was one of the most enjoyable projects I have worked on to date.  At the end of May I was contacted by Simon who runs the award winning football blog back-post.com.  He commissioned me to create 20 t-shirt designs which would be uploaded on to his site, voted upon, and then the top 10 would be printed and sold.

 

At the initial discussion meeting I was told that the designs were to be more about the background of the game, “fashion first, football second”, so upon leaving I looked up football quotes, legendary players and their team colours.  Simon sent me a number of names that he thought might appeal to his websites followers, telling me their character traits, playing styles and so on.  I got to work, trying to come up with as many styles as I could so as to give a wide range of choices, with the hope of cutting out the good from the bad.  After the first draft meeting 9 of the designs were approved, and it wasn’t until the second draft meeting that I found out that he was scrapping the voting system and just getting the full 20 designs printed, which I was more than happy to hear.

 

As I said it was one of the most enjoyable projects so far, the volume of information and content to work with is astounding, and to be honest the only problem I had was keeping to 20 designs.  We have both agreed it will be a project that we will revisit over and over again so check back for updates and follow the link below if you wish to purchase any of the designs!
