This is the first part of a multi blocks linocut. It's directly inspired by the Firebird ballet, with Misty Copeland. She is the first African American woman to be promoted principal dancer at the ABT company. If you are curious about her, there is a nice documentary (A ballerina's tale) that tells her career history, and how she became a role model for African American community. I discovered ballet recently and I'm quite passionate about it. So many things to learn!
This is my first proof print. I plan to do some corrections and another block for adding color to the headdress.
