Ram Pressure Stripping
Project Brief
In this project, I created an animation of a spiral being pulled into a galaxy cluster. Based on the research of Dr. Louise Edwards at Cal Poly, I demonstrated an initial burst of star formation as the galaxy enters the cluster. Then, the star-forming gas is stripped from the galaxy by the hot gas of the cluster, causing knots of star formation to follow in the galaxy's wake. Once the gas has been stripped away, the galaxy turns red as the stars begin to die.
