UX/UI Website Redesign - Web Design Capstone Project

The Willmore Lumber website is outdated and not mobile optimized. I would like to redesign the website focusing on UX/UI design. I will create a desktop version and a mobile version. To start I would research the industry and create personas and scenarios of how and why users would interact with the website. I would also add in a few more pages to help complete the users experience with the website. I would also create a logo, enhance the photographs, change the typography and color scheme of the website. I will use paper and digital prototypes and employ user testing to help enhance my designs. The completed project will produce a high quality, working prototype of both the mobile and web versions of the website.

During my course work for WDD I took Interaction Design and, in that class, found something that really interested me and showed me a direction that I would like to focus on in the future. I feel like this website redesign project will help me refine and build upon the skills that I have learned over the years while working on this degree. I will spend a good amount of time researching, creating scenarios and users and reworking all of the visual elements of the site to make it easier to use and more visually pleasing. I will have multiple rounds of users testing and incorporate that feedback into design refinements. I will go from paper prototype to a polished working Adobe XD prototype.  I would like to go deeper into the UX design that I did in the Interaction design class. I want to understand how the two work together and how they differ. I feel like this project will help me learn more about good UX/UI design and help prepare me for an internship in the winter and a job in UX/UI design after that.
