The Recession Case is an idea I came up with in 2009 while I was a design intern at Case-Mate. I designed the actual product, as well as all the visual creative.
I marketed the Recession Case exclusively through organic social media. After 24 hours it went completely viral with garnering coverage in Mashable, CNET, Gizmodo, Engadget, and Tech Crunch all within a day.
Two weeks after the case went viral, I followed it up with a "Design your own Recession Case" contest where people customized and shared their Recession Case creations on the online gallery I created; this led to a second appearance on Mashable.
Below is a picture of me on the grand prize from the contest, a 1982 Suzuki FA50 moped.
