Data Dashboard Design for Breeders' Cup Jockey Cam
I was asked to design a data dashboard to go over the live video feed of the jockeys cams for the Breeders' Cup World Championships. Two horses in each race had a go pro and a sensor to detect speed, location on the track, and position relative to other horses.
I decided to keep a majority of the content on the top of the frame; due to the fact that all the action within the jockey cam footage happens in the bottom two thirds of the frame. I designed all the horse specific information into one top left corner anchored bar that would be constant on all the jockey cam feeds. I then designed all the sensor based data into a top right corner anchored side panel. This whole panel could slide in and out of view before and after the race, when there wasn't a need to show that information. I also designed this panel to be transparent so you would still be able to see the competition approaching on the flanks of your view.
