Radio Campaign for the District Six Museum

As part of the task of creating a radio ad for the District Six Museum, I focused on the idea of silencing. I came up with my campaign using the insight that much of South African history has been buried in the wake of colonialism and apartheid. In this sense, we live in a society where silencing forms part of the fabric of our past.

To execute this idea, my strategy worked around using the concepts of burying, silencing and asphyxiation to show what might happen to these important facets of history should the District Six Museum close. I personified the museum to become a living, breathing thing. In doing so, the museum also becomes something which is mortal and therefore vulnerable to death.
