Institution Rebrand | Katten Kabinet

Katten Kabinet
Katten Kabinet is an Amsterdam-based museum founded in the 90s by a cat lover. The museum only displays artworks about cat, and the media has included photography, paintings and sculptures etc. This is a school project to redesign a brand new visual system and create a range of extended collaterals for a selected institution.

A Cat "K"
In the first stage, I did some sketches around the institution name and tried to include the cat element into the identity. But I decided to use the monogram logo style rather than the lengthy name after that.
To do so, I started with an initial letter “K” and transformed it into a cat “K”.

As the main typography system, IBM Plex Sans showcases a clean, simplified and modernized style.
For the purpose of using this old classy pinky-red (the original colour system) is to keep the original classy impression.

Flexible Cat Whisker
As for extended design, a series of flexible cat whiskers created based on the cat “K” character that showcase the kittens under various states. (Inspired by Tom and Jerry)

Thanks for Watching!
