I settled on this design as it had good spacing and you could clearly see who the queen bee is and how the bees go about their life when not working. Also the color palette for this piece is more limited as I did not want to stray from the colors that are associated with bees. Also the layout flows nicely across the page.

Here I have done a rough draft in color in order to help decided which design is stronger. I feel in this piece it is not too clear that the person is the bee's queen.

In this piece I made it more apparent that the woman is the queen and that the bees are here subjects, also i added an imagery of how the home life of a bee would look like.
