My colleagues of Matatena (advertising agency) this year were responsible for the design of the stand of Grupo Crío (producers and traders of chicken and eggs) in the Yucatan Xmatkuil Fair, they brought the idea of converting the stand into a sort of living room cinema to present a short film, which I was commissioned to animate and lead.
The only objective was to create something fun that could capture the attention of the audience. At the begining, there wasn´t characters or any other starting point, so the project was avaliable to propose all the madness we wanted (which almost never happens). The result was the misadventures of two malicious foxes (here in Yucatan they are known as possums); Zorroberto and Melquiades and their failed attempts to steal eggs to Crio, dodging uselessly the custody of the chickens guardians that watch over them.
I also had the good fortune to work with the talented Gaspar Pantoja, who did a great job doing all the backgrounds and curtains for the animation, and the invaluable assistance of Pilar Caamal who threw the hard task of vectorized and prepare all the drawings to animate them (puff! ).
The truth is that by adding the voices, the backgrounds, the graphics and all the arts involved happened a cool chemistry difficult to explain, that only remains for me to invite you to know about this project, and if you can, get some feedback. We hope that you will enjoy it and with lucky there could be a sequel!
